Columbia Commons Campus-Wide Day of Interprofessional Action 2020
Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, we decided to cancel our IPE Day schedule of lectures and workshops. In lieu of our schedule of events for 2020, we premiered a Broadway tribute video to healthcare professionals with our Columbia and New York Presbyterian Hospital network on April 3, 2020. The Tony-Award-winning Broadway musical COME FROM AWAY tells the story of how a community in Newfoundland took care of stranded passengers when planes were rerouted and forced to land in this small town on September 11, 2001. The show’s actors and creators produced a tribute video for healthcare professionals at Columbia and New York Presbyterian Hospital. The Broadway cast recorded themselves performing one of the show’s songs about finding hope in the face of disaster, interspersed with messages of gratitude to our clinicians that were gathered by CUIMC members. The cast generously asked us to premiere this video with our Columbia/NYP community to share their appreciation for all healthcare professionals.
