Open Positions

The Division of Ethics in the Department of Medical Humanities and Ethics seeks a full-time staff associate to work with the Division Chief and a multi-disciplinary team to develop the national Center for ELSI Resources and Analysis (CERA), to organize the biennial international ELSI Congress and to support programming for the Division of Ethics.  Place of work will be in the Division of Ethics in the Department of Medical Humanities and Ethics, housed in Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University. 

Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least four years of prior administration experience. Expertise in public outreach and with social media tools required.  Master’s degree in the social sciences, law, public health or related field is preferred.  Candidates should have outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and self-initiative. 
Duties will include: 

  • Support the planning and implementation of CERA working groups, community engagement activities, including workshops, newsletters, list serves, and webinars.
  • Support the planning and execution of the biennial ELSI Congress
  • Manage newsletters, listservs, twitter accounts and other social media activities for the Division of Ethics, developing content and audiences for divisional initiatives.
  • Support other Division of Ethics programs and initiatives as assigned.
